In honor of the Super Bowl how appropo to blog about greed in the NFL. While I'm not particularly a fan of someone running around 'playing' for a living and making millions, I sure as heck think they deserve their share when their average career lifespan is 3-4 years. Divide the average salary by that length of time and these days it doesn't amount to much for many of them considering the risk of long-term injury and shortened lifespan. And if any of them make one false move, their careers may be over, or at the very least their bank accounts severely compromised. I don't remember seeing the antics of an NFL owner plastered across every tabloid.....and something tells me it's not because they are all squeakly clean.
The greed of the owners know no bounds. From what i understand they get 1 billion up front and then take a 40% cut, where the players get 60 (collectively). But that just isn't enough for the owners so they now are threatening a lockout of games next season unless they get their way. Nevermind the players and the fans, do they care about all of the hot dog vendors and maintenance staff whose jobs will be lost if this happens (not to mention that guy cleaning snow off the Cowboys arena ;) It's disgusting how greedy and selfish some people are in this world. Talk about corporate welfare....do you realize most of them also get municipality $ on top of it all. Unreal!
